Article Evaluation Process and Ethics

Journal of Pediatric Infection

Below is a step-by-step summary of the evaluation process followed from the submission of a manuscript to the final decision stage in the Journal of Pediatric Infection.

Process Flow
1

Upon the submission of the new manuscript by the author, it is evaluated by the Editor and Co-editors.

2

Journal of Pediatric Infection accepts in principle to conform to the ethical standards of the Helsinki Declaration. Therefore, the approval of the ethics committee for experimental and clinical studies and drug investigations must be stated under the heading Materials and Methods or Patients and Methods of the manuscript. The patients or volunteers on whom the study has been conducted must be informed and their approval must be obtained, which must also be stated in the same section. In experimental studies on animals, it should be stated that the study has been conducted in line with the principles of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and that ethics board approval has been obtained from the relevant institution. If regarded necessary, a copy of the ethics board approval may be requested by the editor from the authors.

3

The submitted manuscript is sent to the related Editor (Editor of the Article) by the Editorial Board.

4

A member of the Editorial Board takes over the authority and responsibility as Editor of the Article and evaluates the manuscript. After plagiarism and ethical evaluation, one of the following decisions is made:

  1. The manuscript must be sent to the statistics referee before it is submitted to the reviewers.
  2. The manuscript can be passed on to the reviewers.
  3. The manuscript cannot be passed to the reviewers in its current form; however, if it can be revised, revision may be requested with editorial comments on behalf of the Editorial Board. After revision and control, it may be sent to reviewers. The author is given 15 days for revision.
  4. If the manuscript cannot be revised and includes methodological errors, the Editor of the Article writes the comments and rejection reasons. After the other Editorial Board members are informed, the manuscript is rejected on behalf of the Editorial Board.
5

In order to shorten the evaluation process, the manuscript is sent to 3 anonymous referees who are experts in the related field. The referees are given 15 days to review the manuscript.

6

According to the evaluation results of the referees, the author is notified as Accepted, Revision-Check, or Rejected.

Note: Timeframes and decision stages are implemented within the journal’s editorial process management.
