About the Journal and Instructions for Authors
Journal of Pediatric Infection is the official scientific, open access publication organ of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunization Association of Turkey and is published quarterly in March, June, September, and December. In addition, a supplementary issue may be published for the National Pediatric Infectious Diseases Congress.
The aim of the Journal of Pediatric Infection is to publish scientifically high-quality research articles in the field of pediatric health and diseases. In addition, review articles, original research, editor opinion, letters to the editor, case reports, pediatric radiology cases, and instructive manuscripts (what is your diagnosis?, routines, question-answer, clinical tips, news on world literature) are accepted. The journal publishes manuscripts in both Turkish and English and is an independent, unbiased, and double-blind peer-reviewed journal.
Journal of Pediatric Infection is indexed in Web of Sciences, Emerging Sources Citation Index, CINAHL, Türkiye Atıf Dizini, and TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM Türk Tıp Dizini.
The editorial and publication processes of the journal are carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), Council of Science Editors (CSE), Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), European Association of Science Editors (EASE), and National Information Standards Organization (NISO).
The processes of Journal of Pediatric Infection are implemented in accordance with the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. doaj.org/bestpractice
Originality, high scientific quality, and citation potential are the most important criteria for a manuscript to be accepted for publication. Manuscripts submitted for evaluation must not have been previously presented or published in any electronic or printed journal, book, or other medium.
The journal should be informed in advance about manuscripts that were previously submitted to another journal but not accepted for publication. Submission of former reviewer reports may accelerate the evaluation process.
For studies presented at scientific meetings, the full name, date, city, and country of the organization must be indicated.
All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a double-blind peer-review process. In order to ensure an unbiased evaluation, each manuscript is reviewed by at least two external independent reviewers who are experts in their fields.
The evaluation processes of manuscripts submitted by editorial board members are managed by invited external and independent editors. The final decision-making authority rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
For clinical and experimental studies, drug studies, and some case reports, an Ethics Committee approval prepared in accordance with the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki is required. If deemed necessary, the ethics committee approval or an equivalent official document may be requested from the authors.
For studies conducted on humans, the manuscript must state that informed consent was obtained after explaining the procedures to the participants. For animal studies, the measures taken to prevent pain, suffering, and discomfort must be clearly stated.
The responsibility for screening all manuscripts with similarity detection software lies with the authors.
In cases of allegations or suspicions of plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification or fabrication, the Editorial Board acts in accordance with COPE guidelines.
All individuals listed as authors must fulfill the authorship criteria recommended by the ICMJE. The ICMJE recommends that authors meet all four of the following criteria:
Individuals who do not meet all four criteria should be acknowledged on the title page of the manuscript. To prevent ghost or honorary authorship, the corresponding author must submit a signed and scanned version of the Authorship Contribution Form together with the manuscript.
If the Editorial Board suspects a case of gift authorship, the manuscript may be rejected without further review. The corresponding author must also submit a brief cover letter stating that he or she accepts responsibility for authorship during the entire process.
The journal requires and encourages authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest, including financial and institutional relationships.
Possible conflict of interest cases are handled by the Editorial Board in accordance with COPE and ICMJE guidelines.
The Editorial Board evaluates appeals and complaint cases within the scope of COPE guidelines. Authors may contact the Editorial Office directly regarding their appeals and complaints. If necessary, an impartial ombudsperson may be appointed. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
When submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Pediatric Infection, authors agree to transfer the copyright of their manuscript to the Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunization Association of Turkey. If the manuscript is rejected, copyright is reassigned to the authors.
The journal requires that every submission be accompanied by a Copyright Transfer Form. For the use of previously published figures, tables, or content, permission must be obtained from the copyright holder. Legal and financial responsibility belongs to the authors.
Statements and opinions expressed in the journal belong solely to the author(s). The journal, Editor-in-Chief, editors, editorial board, and publisher are not responsible for these views.
The journal publishes original articles, reviews, case reports, and letters to the editor on topics related particularly to pediatric infectious diseases and more broadly to pediatric health and diseases.
